I took a ride to check the Platte River and Lakewood Gulch trails the other day and good news! The detour on the Platte at Frog Hollow is no more. The new stretch is complete and open for business.
I've seen variations of this tile all along the Platte River Trail. Guerrilla artists I expect.
AT & SF Railway bridge in the distance.
This is where the trail was closed before, just over the bridge from Frog Hollow.
They have made the Platte more natural.
Here's the cut off to Weir Gulch.
The new underpass at W 8th Ave.
There used to be a dam here, the old water line can be seen.
This section is not officially open quite yet.
They still need to install the lighting.
Looking up the Lakewood Gulch Trail. Mostly open now.
New trees planted all along the new Lakewood Gulch Trail.
Here's a view with the Federal Avenue bridge in the distance.
I saw a truck pop a wheelie. Actually it was on train wheels which are hard to see in this picture.
Good ol' Lakewood Gulch is 99% restored.
A shot from Knox Court. The brown building is a landmark seen in posts going back to 2008. My oh my the landscape has changed. The light rail is going through Lakewood Gulch.
Frisbee Golf Course had to be closed because of the light rail. This is one of the few relics.I've said it before; Frisbee Golf, the bane of humanity.
Nice new bike path up Lakewood Gulch.
A couple of shots looking west then east on the future light rail line. Looks like soon there will be trains running along here.
The Platte detour at Frog Hollow is no more and Lakewood Gulch Trail is open and improved. It now features light rail.

The trail has one minor detour. It's almost complete.

You can see where the elevators will take you from street level to the light rail station.
Going under Sheridan. Kinda muddy right now.
But what do you know they appear to be building out the bike path past Sheridan. At least this metal fence seems to indicate a future bike thoroughfare.
